Diabetes – Blood glucose testing, blood pressure check, foot check, weight check; review of self-care plan and glucose self-testing.
High blood pressure – Blood pressure check; review self-care.
High cholesterol – Blood test for cholesterol; review self-care.
Cough – Dry cough (without phlegm) and wheezing may be caused by a cold, sinus infection, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, whooping cough, asthma and environmental allergies.
Thyroid disease – Monitor thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels.
Obesity –Check weight, cholesterol and blood glucose. Review self-care weight loss plan.
COPD, asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema – Perform pulmonary function test. Review self-care plan.
Minor surgical procedures –Perform as indicated.
Skin tag, mole and wart removal –Cutting, freezing or burning to remove growths. Your health practitioner will assess any moles before removal, to ensure they are not cancerous. In that case, a biopsy is necessary and the mole will be left intact.
Abscess drainage – Opening and draining the abscess.
